Forestry Association of Nigeria urges Kwarans to plant trees
The National President of Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN), Mallam Saminu Ado, has called on Kwara residents to preserve forest by planting trees, noting that trees have a lot of health benefits.
Mallam Ado who made the call at the Two Hundred and Thirty-Second National Executive Council meeting of the Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) held in Ilorin, urged the State Government not to relent in its efforts in ensuring a livable environment.
The Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Barrister Kayode Towoju, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Abdulrazaq Amuda said the State Government would continue to safeguard the State forest which he described as the root of human development.
Earlier, the FAN Chairman, Kwara State Chapter, Reverend Michael Afolayan commended the forestry retirees and other stake holders for supporting the Forestry Department in the State Ministry of environment and Forestry.
The key issues in the Communique produced at the Executive Council Meeting was the need by National Assembly to ensure the passage of the Nigeria Institute of Chartered Foresters (NICF) Bill which was submitted to the Assembly for hearing, adding that the bill would improve Forestry development in Nigeria
