Aide opens up on Gbemi's frustration in PDP
According to one of his top aides, Alhaji Toyin Olosasa, the former ACPN governorship candidate in the 2011 election in the state has not had a fair treatment from members and leadership of the party since she joined the PDP.
Olososa who spoke with our reporter exclusively yesterday night on the matter said that Gbemi, as a result of the development, had recently limited her participation in the party activities which has fuel rumour of her defection to another party.
To this end, Gbemi though actively participated in the party’s gubernatorial primary held in December last year where she polled 132 votes to emerged third behind Dele Belgore and Senator Simon Ajibola, she reportedly shunned the party’s guber campaign inauguration and the presidential rally held earlier in the month and on Monday respectively.
He explained that her Group in the party (GRS) was poorly treated concerning preparation for the PDP presidential rally at Metropolitan Square, Ilorin, adding that it had to reject funds and vest made available to it.
“Can you imagine that out of the over N80m earmarked for the mobilisation, only a paltry sum of N50,000 were given to GRS and 500 vests.
“We had to reject it”, Olosasa added.
Dele Belgore who is the Coordinator of Jonathan’s campaign in Kwara State handled the issue of mobilisation to the venue of the event.
It would be recalled that Gbemi reportedly had a running battle with some leaders of the party especially Hajia Munat Bola Shagaya and staunchly resisted her (Shagaya) reported moves to foist Belgore as the party’s guber candidate.
But last night, there where rumour making the rounds that Gbemi was set to defect to the All Progresses Congress (APC) on Saturday during the party’s presidential rally coming up in the state.
Speaking on the issue, Olosasa denied the rumour and maintained that Gbemi for now is still with the PDP.
“My phone have been inundated with calls for hours on the issue. But as for now there is nothing like that.
“I spoke to her about 1 hour ago and she confirmed there is nothing of such. You know if I am not number one, i should rank number 2 among his close aides and she will not take such decision without consulting me.
“She was not at the Presidential visit and her absent was felt and noticed. The truth is that she has not being given fair treatment in the party. But she is still in the PDP for now
“can you imagine out of the over N80m earmarked for mobilisation, they gave GRS on a paltry N50,000 with vest.
“We have not been carried along in the activities of the party. The PDP has disintegrate. Belgore group has been instructed to vote for Mike Omotosho in the Labour party but worked for the president.
Investigation by National Pilot on the issue last night however revealed that Gbemi has instructed her followers to feel free to join the APC if they so chooses.
