KWHA to Investigate Kwara Hotels alleged mismanagement

Date: 2016-10-16

The Kwara State House of Assembly has directed its joint Committees on Public Accounts/Finance and Appropriation/Commerce, Industry and Cooperative to investigate the alleged mismanagement leading to non payment of salaries of Staff of Kwara Hotels for six months.

The House took the decision in its sitting following a Matter of General Public Importance raised by a member representing Omupo Constituency Hon. Moshood Bakare.

The Speaker while mandating the joint Committees to look into the book of the Hotel, noted with displeasure that the Kwara Hotels Limited which used to be the pride of the State had lost its glory due to alleged mismanagement thereby necessitating the spring up of mushroom hotels within Ilorin metropolis.

He said the Joint Committees of the House should look into the causes of the dwindling fortunes of the Hotels and report its findings to the House in two weeks time.

Dr Ahmad equally enjoined IF-K to invest its fund in ventures like Kwara Hotels to further improve the Internally Generated Revenue of the State.

Earlier, Hon Bakare had while raising a Matter of General Public Importance disclosed that staffers of the Hotel had not been paid for six months, due to alleged mismanagement of funds by the hierarchy of the hotel.

He therefore urged the House to wade in with a view to restoring the glory of the Hotels and ameliorate the plight of its workforce that had not been paid for months.

The Legislator, later updated members that Harmony Holdings had last night took over the management of the hotels but the House resolved that the joint committees should go ahead with the investigation.

The House also confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Mohammed A.Katsina as the new Clerk of the State House of Assembly, following his deployment by the State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed from the State Ministry of Energy.

The House unanimously confirmed his appointment following a motion without notice raised by the House leader Hon. Hassan Oyeleke.
