Offa chairman blames banks for security lapses

Sequel to the last Wednesday robbery attack on three banks in Offa Local Government Area, the chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Prince Saheed Popoola has condemned the uncorporative attitude of the banks in the area to moves made in the past to avert a re-occurrence of such incident.

Popoola stated this on Thursday while presenting the 2012 budget to the legislature at the legislative chamber of the local government.

He stated that all the banks refused to have financial contribution to the proposed security fund meant to tackle the problems of insecurity in the area, adding that HRM, Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Oloyede Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, is a member of the security committee and has influenced a donation of one Hilux van from an indigene of the community, which is to aid in movement of special task force on security for the purpose of surveillance and patrol, stressing that the banks who are the prime targets of men of the underworld have unexpectedly refused to have financial contribution to the cause.

Popoola revealed Ihnl HI the various meetings held at the palace and the local government, the bunks have always been the clog in the wheel in raising money for the purpose of intensifying security in the area.
