An Ilorin Area Court on Monday dissolved a four-year old marriage between one Akeem Jimoh and Hawau Jimoh because of the bad manners of the woman.

Akeem, 38, a resident of Edun area of Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve his marriage to Hawau, saying that she lacked good behaviour.

“My wife’s manner towards everyone around her is too odd and discouraging, which has discouraged most of our friends and relatives from coming for a visit,” Akeem told the court.

He said that his wife was fond of talking to people, including him, rudely, and often said negatives things about people, adding that she had refused to change, in spite of his pleas and admonition.

He said that the marriage was contracted in 2010 and had produced a male child.

“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot contain her poor manners and rudeness anymore,” Akeem said.

When called by the court, Hawau did not object to the prayer of her husband, saying that she was tired of Akeem’s daily complaint about her behaviour.

“My husband is forcing me to behave in his own way which I will never do,” she said, pleading with court to grant the prayer of her husband.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, therefore, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to Akeem.
