Kwara to introduce insurance policy to traders
The Kwara Government is to introduce insurance policy to market men and women as a way of alleviating their sufferings in the case of any disaster.
Mr Abdulazeez Ayodeji, the Special Assistant to Governor on Emergency and Relief Services, disclosed this in Ilorin on Wednesday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the traders’ shops and their wares would be insured.
This, according to him, will go a long way in cushioning effects of any unforeseen incidents.
He said that funds, being used to provide relief services to the victims of disaster, could be used to provide other meaningful projects.
The governor’s aide said arrangements were in top gear for the commencement of the scheme.
Ayodeji said that with the implementation of the policy, victims of disasters would not need to wait for government or individuals for assistance.
He advised market men and women to embrace the policy whenever it took off.
The special assistant called on people of the state to always take precautionary measures to prevent fire outbreaks, especially during the dry season.
Ayodeji advised the people of the state to be vigilant and switch off all light points while leaving their homes or offices.
He said his office had put necessary arrangements in place to sensitise the people on the need to be cautions always. (NAN)
