Club owners condemn Kwara United's attack of Abdullahi, referee

Date: 2013-09-04

The leadership of the Club Owners Association have condemned the alleged act of hooliganism by fans of Kwara United, which led the abandonment of the Week 28 encounter between Kwara United and Warri Wolves.

Reports say Kwara United fans descended heavily on Assistant Referee, CID Durunna, from Abia State, after a barren first half and gave him the beating of his life as he sustained heavy head injury and lost his teeth before being rushed to the hospital.

The Chairman of Club owners, Barrister Isaac Danladi, said that the act was barbaric and condemnable.

Danladi urged Kwara United management and the League Management Committee to get to the root of the matter and apply sanctions immediately.

It was also gathered that the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, who was at the stadium, was harassed, booed and chased out with throw of stones and missiles.

Danladi also condemned harassment of Abdullahi.
