Army expresses readiness to collaborate with other security agencies
The Nigerian Army on Friday expressed its readiness to collaborate with other security agencies in Kwara to secure lives and property of the citizens.
The Brigade Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, Ilorin, Brig.-Gen. Idris Alkali, made this known to newsmen after decorating, Capt. Kolawole Bello, with his new rank.
Alkali said the country was presently going through some security challenges, and solicited the support of members of the public in tackling the problem.
“We want to ensure a peaceful society where everybody will go about their lawful businesses without fear, molestation or harassment,’’ he said.
He tasked other officers of the command to emulate their newly promoted colleague, who he said, earned promotion through hard work and patience.
The brigade commander sued for peace among the two major religions in the country, saying that religion should not come into military operations.
He further appealed for oneness among Nigerians, irrespective of religion or ethnic background.
Bello, who is the command’s Public Relations Officer, was promoted from lieutenant to captain and had served in various capacities in the Nigerian Army before his appointment on Aug. 11. (NAN)
