"Ramadan: Rule with fear of God" - Offa Chief Imam
Chief Imam of Offaland in Kwara State, Fadilat Muyideen Hussein, has advised political leaders in the country to rule with the fear of God and ensure justice is done in the discharge of their duties.
Alhaji Hussein made the call at the 1st Ramadan lecture series and launching of an Islamic magazine organized by Al-Monsrur International Umurah and Hajj Services at the weekend in Lagos.
The Islamic cleric said that any ruler that rule with the fear of God would succeed in his given and enjoy the support of the people.
The Chief Imam also warned that everyone that God places in positions of authority on earth would give his or her account of stewardship before Allah in the day of judgement. Speaking on the significance of Ramadan, the cleric maintained that the period of Ramadan was set aside by Allah for believers for fasting as a way of moving closer to Him.
He maintained that fasting was compulsory for all Muslims except for women under their monthly circle. In his remarks at the lecture, Royal Father of the day, the Onitire of Itireland, Oba AdulLateef Abayomi Dauda, who spoke in the same vein, advised Muslims to follow the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammed.
The royal father also enjoyed all Islamic faithful to live by the teachings and Hadith of Prophet Muhammed, saying that those in this category would be rewarded at the close of age.
He therefore called on Muslims to use the holy Month to retrace their journey on earth and move closer to God. Earlier in his opening remarks, Chairman of Al-Monsrur International Umurah and Hajj Services, Alhaji Lookman Tijani said the organisation orgnised the lecture to sensitise Muslims of their responsibilities during and after the month of Ramadan. Alhaji Tijani also expressed the preparedness of the organisation to convey all intending pilgrims to Umurah and Hajj for this year as affordable rates.
