'Spend your wealth to uplift orphans'- Maria Adeleke

Date: 2013-07-05

An Ilorin-based octogenarian, Mrs Maria Adeleke, has urged Nigerians to always spend their wealth towards the upliftment of the orphans and motherless children in order to make the society a better place to live in.

Speaking with the Community News, during her 80th birthday celebration in Ilorin, recently  which she marked with the motherless babies at the Kwara State Children's Reception Centre, IIorin, Mrs. Adeleke said the underprivileged should be shown love and care.

The celebrant, who donated food items and toiletries to the centre said, "it is not the wish of these children that they don't have parents, they don't even know that they do not have parents, that is why we must show them love and care.

"The government has done well by creating this centre, we must support them by donating our widow's might to them," she said.

She said that she decided to mark her birthday with the children so as to appreciate God's mercies and kindness on her and her family, adding that God stressed the need to be kind to others, especially the needy.

The husband of the celebrant, Mr. Peter Adeleke, who is the Chairman, Medical Lab Wears Nigeria Limited, Ilorin, described her as a God-fearing woman, a virtue which according to him, had sustained their marriage for about 60 years.
