kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Olabode Olayemi has donated a hand pump borehole to the people of Gaa-Agbo community in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of  the state.

The provision of the borehole,  according to Mr Olayemi,  was part of efforts to solve acute water problem in the area.

Speaking at the inauguration of the project, Olayemi said he decided to sink the borehole because of the problem of water scarcity in the community.
He said the gesture was part of his contributions to make life more bearable for the people of the community.

He described the project as a giving back mechanism based on the assessment of the need of the people of the benefiting community.

According to him, "'the benefiting community was in dire need of water because women in that community have to walk two  kilometres or more before they could get water for their domestic and drinking usage  and this is not acceptable.

"As  someone who has benefited from that community I need to plough something back and that was why I choose to do this project on the basis of their needs that we have accessed."

He urged the community members to take proper care of the project and protect  it from any act of vandalism.

The commissioner attributed infrastructural decay in most cases to lack of proper maintenance of public facilities.
