Oyeyemi pours encomium on Gbadebo at books presentation
Speakers at the presentation of the books held at Ilorin Club centre on Thursday rejoiced with the author for his resounding success in writing of the books.
The chairman of the occasion, Chief Y. F. Oyeyemi described the author as a living epitome of what he advocates in his witty sayings.
Chief Oyeyemi also described the author as an aspiring perfectionist, a cheerful, goal-getter, industrious, focused and indefatigable person.
Commenting on the books, he said the two books are full of lessons and challenges and witty sayings which one cannot ignore except to one's peril.
He said the author's reference to the Bible; renowned authors, philosophers as well as past American Presidents like Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are edifying and thought provoking.
He urged the author to engage more in delivering and writing motivational books in the interest of the society.
The reviewer of "At Your Fingertips", Prof. Mary Ebun Kolawole described the author as a dynamic man in search for success which he achieved through a relentless, resourceful and creative life.
According to her "We see the book, At Your Fingertips as a presentation of the "fumbling and tumbling of life", in author's words it is a book that is punctuated with rich philosophical thought and quotations.
"This is thought provoking. We are reminded that "man is the only animal that can laugh and weep." Adeleke underscored the need to be the man, consisting of body, soul and spirit. Man must be a visionary being, leaning on the efficacy of prayer and God's manual, according to this author".
Prof. Ore Yusuf who reviewed "One Mouth, Two Ears" said the book is an anthology of diverse words of wisdom, both comic and serious, tension tamers and rib-cracking jokes.
He said "The book draws from our rich language heritage attributes that will stay with the reader, long after the book may have been forgotten.
"I personally find the work a real work of art, with clear language and vivid verbal graphics. The erudition of the book derives from diverse allusions, evidence of the author's versatile background".
Mr. Adeleke Gbadebo, in his remark, said he felt highly fulfilled that his effort has been rewarded mentally.
He said the books were borne out his passion to contribute and expand the frontier of knowledge in the society.
While commending those that have contributed in one way or the other to the success, he described people's reactions and contributions to the realization of his ambition as an inspiration to do more.
Gbodebo, who hails from Illudun-Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, had worked as information officer in the state civil service before his retirement as a lecturer at Kwaratech in 2002.
