Date: 2013-04-25

The Kwara Government said it sets aside N10 million monthly for the sinking and repair of boreholes across the three senatorial districts.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Tunji Morounfoye, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Monday.

According to him, the measure is aimed at ensuring availability of potable water in all nooks and crannies of the state.

Morounfoye said that the intention of the state government was to ensure that dividends of democracy got to doorsteps of the electorate.

The commissioner assured the people that the water projects would get to all the communities regardless of background or political party inclination.

He said that contractors handling the projects had already been mobilised.

Morounfoye solicited suggestions and constructive criticism from the people on how government could achieve more development.

The commissioner advised benefiting communities to guide the projects against vandals and theft.

He said that this would enable the government to focus on the provision of other amenities aimed at improving the wellbeing of the citizens.
