Group Cautions PDP Members on Party Supremacy

Date: 2013-04-17

A group, Grassroots Politicians of Nigeria (GPN), an arm of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has cautioned members of the PDP to pursue their ambition with decorum without disobeying the party’s rules and regulations.

The group in a statement made available to Daily Trust by its Chairman, Alhaji Salau Alabi Olorin said the supremacy of the party is very sacrosanct and should not be sacrificed on the altar of individual ambition.

“The PDP is the largest party in Africa and by the grace of God it is the ruling party in Nigeria. The founding fathers of the party have laboured very hard to keep the party together for the past 13 years and the younger generation should not engage in any unwholesome activity that could bring down the party.

“What is important is to follow the guidelines, rules and regulations of the party as contained in the constitution and ensure that as members we imbibe self-discipline and self-abnegation for peace to reign in the party,” he stated.

The group commended the leader of PDP in Kwara state and former governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki for being able to keep the party together in the state without any rancour or ill-feeling.

“Kwara should be a model for other states in terms of the leadership that we enjoy and the cooperation by members of the party who pay due obeisance and respect to party supremacy even when some of them also have ambition.

“It is normal for politicians to have ambition but what is important is that we must follow the rules of the party in pursuing our ambition,” the statement added.
