National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State command has arrested a suspected four-man robbery gang in the state in connection with stealing of motorcycles.

The commandant of the command, Gana Yerima who paraded the suspects before newsmen on Tuesday at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin said they were arrested after they had allegedly snatched away two motorcycles in Offa town.

He said the command was able to arrest the suspect when one of their victims, Adeola Oluwasegun reported the stealing of his motorcycle.

He added that the theft happened when Oluwasegun parked the motorcycle along the road in Offa town to ease himself.

Yerima explained that the victim said he saw the suspects sitting under a tree when he parked the motorcycle without suspecting them, until they did so and he was unable to stop them.

He said the suspects were later arrested with two other motorcycles they had stolen and with locally made double barrel pistol which they used to operate, were recovered from them.

One of the suspects who the NSCDC boss described as the prime suspect while confessing to the allegation said he was influenced by friends to perpetrate the crime.

The suspect, who said he is a student of a tertiary institution in Offa, said he is 24 years old with two others while the age of the remaining one is 31.

Yerima while disclosing that the suspects would be charged to court over the crime, urged members of the public to always provide the command with information helpful in fighting crime.
