Ganmo: Kwara Police Command Arrests 15 Troublemakers
Spokesperson of the Police in the state, DSP Olufemi Fabode, who confirmed the communal crisis in the area, said that it was as a result of chieftaincy tussle in the community.
The PPRO, who said the command had ordered the Assistant Commissioner of Police, (ACP) in charge of Operations to take full control of the situation, added that those arrested would soon be charged to court and face the full wrath of the law if found guilty.
He, however, urged residents and community leaders to ensure peaceful co-existence in the community and shun all forms of violence that could further fuel the ugly situation.
Unconfirmed report had it that five policemen were feared dead in Ganmo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday, following a violent clash which ensued.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the problem led to traffic congestion in the area for hours as the motorists passing through the federal road, which traversed the community, found movement difficult for many hours.
Although, the cause of the crisis could not be immediately ascertained, but sources said it might not be unconnected with the grading of the Oluganna stool to a fourth class status.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Fabode, DSP, did not pick his calls.
