Slain Kwara CP: We're Making Progress - Police
As the brutal murder of Kwara State commissioner of police, Chinwike Asadu continues to generate concerns, the Enugu State police command yesterday said it was making progress in its investigation.
In an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP in Enugu, the police public relations officer of the command, Ebere Amaraizu said the suspects arrested over the murder would be charged to court after investigations.
He disclosed that the command would not want to charge to court anybody that has no connection with the murder of Asadu, hence its resolve to carry out thorough investigations.
Meanwhile, LEADERSHIP gathered that Asadu’s kinsmen in Nsukka have concluded plans to stage a peaceful protest over the demise of their son.
Our correspondent learnt that they have already concluded that nothing positive will come out from the ongoing investigations.
Some of the aggrieved kinsmen said they suspected that the murder would be treated like similar high profile assassinations that took place in the country in the past.
It would be recalled that unknown gunmen killed the Kwara State police boss near his Enugu residence.
Irked by the development, Enugu State governor, Mr Sullivan Chime pledged a N10 million reward for any body who can give information on the killers of Asadu.
Chime announced the reward when he paid an unscheduled condolence visit to Amorji-Nike home of the slain commissioner.
The governor charged the police to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime were arrested and brought to book.
