LEAH Charity Foundation Distributes School Uniforms to Pupils
The Life Empowered Anchors Hope (LEAH), Charity Foundation, pet project of the wife of Kwara State governor, through her ‘Adopt a Child Programme’ has presented schooling materials to 40 pupils of Alalubosa Primary School, Alalubosa, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking at the event, the Special Assistant on Administration and Strategy to the wife of the governor, Mr. Lanre Bello, implored parents of the beneficiaries to take care of the materials.
Bello, who said there is plan to increase number of beneficiaries, added that it was the desire of the wife of the governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, to see that children of school age were kept in school irrespective of their parents’ financial or social disposition.
Making the presentation on behalf of the founding Trustee of Leah Charity Foundation, Mrs. Ahmed, the Administrator of the Foundation, Mrs. Bukola Akinleye, thanked the community for their reception, saying that the Foundation was resolved to further impact positively on the community.
It will be recalled that LEAH Charity Foundation was first brought to Alalubosa community through the case of a 10 year-old Abdulkadri Abdullateef, who was abandoned by her parents because of his physically challenged.
The Leah Charity Foundation came to his aid and donated a wheelchair to aid his movement and also adopted him alongside the 40 pupils being presented with schooling materials into the ‘Adopt a Child programme’, an initiative of Leah Foundation’s Education desk.
“The ‘Adopt a Child Programme’ is designed to cater for the school needs of the under-privileged in our midst since education is free in Kwara State.
“The school materials that were presented to the beneficiaries includes; school bags, a pair of uniform, school sandals, exercise books, writing materials and socks,” she said.
The headmaster of the school, Mr. Moshood Oganija, on behalf of the school and the community appreciated the programmes of the Foundation and appealed to the Foundation to continue to involve the school and the community in their programmes.
