Odeku who was represented by Hajia Fatimoh Bunza from Abuja Headquarters said the programme is aimed at reducing the barriers to child spacing/family planning use as well as to increase the contraceptive prevalence rate by 20 per cent points in the state.

According to her, the 72-hour makeover concept means harnessing all NURHI efforts in supporting health facilities with a few to planning clinic and family planning integration site in such health facilities are set up for optimal family planning service provisions.

Speaking earlier, the state team leader of NURHI, Alhaji Abubakar Sodiq Aliu, explained that the programme was aimed at enhancing the family planning units in the state.

He commended the effort of the Ilorin East Local Government for her tremendous effort in making the programme see the light of the day.

The chairperson explained that Ilorin East considered the project as one of its major health components designed to improve the living standard of citizenry.

According to her, the selection of Okelele Health Centre should be seen as a rare privilege which all must take advantage of.

She noted that the centre is now prepared to render all family planning services which include administration of oral contraceptive pills, injectables and implants.

“Family planning commodities which patients do pay for are now free, NURHI has provided all the necessary commodities free of charge for patients in a bid to achieve the targeted goal of a healthy population,” she said.

She however called on other non-governmental organizations and wealthy individuals to partner with the government so as to improve the health of Nigerians and secure a robust future for the country.
