Emir of Ilorin Praises Correspondents' Chapel for Making Palace Most Reported

Date: 2026-05-14

The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has declared himself the most reported monarch in Nigeria. Speaking at the grand finale of the annual Press Week organised by the Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Kwara State, the monarch also said his palace remains one of the most reported in the country.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council, represented by his spokesperson, Dr. Azeez Arowona, urged unity and fraternity among journalists in the state and called on other NUJ chapels to emulate the Correspondents' Chapel in focus and sense of purpose.

According to Arowona, the Emir has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the media since ascending the throne in 1993.

"You have always reported the palace positively, and I say a very big thank you. You have made the palace the most reported in the country," he said.

He added: "The Emir also asked me to declare tonight that the media, especially the Correspondents' Chapel, have made him the most positively reported Emir in Nigeria.

"The Emir's relationship with the media since his enthronement has been wonderful. He is proud to be identified with you, especially the Correspondents' Chapel."

The monarch also charged journalists to use their profession to positively rebrand the country and promote national harmony and peaceful coexistence, particularly in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
