Kwara United Football Club defeated GA Akanbi FC 2-0 to win the Kwara State FA Cup on Sunday at the Main Bowl of the Rashidi Yekini Stadium, Ilorin.

Senior Match Commissioner and Chairman of Abraysports, Mallam Yussuf Adekunle Abdullahi, oversaw the final. He praised both teams for their maturity and commended the match officials for their standard of officiating.

Kwara United scored both goals in the first half. The second half produced no goals from either side, as the NPFL side controlled proceedings against their Nationwide League One opponents.

"It was a fight to the finish. Both teams showcased their skills and talents in a masterclass football final," Abdullahi said in a post-match chat.

The Match Commissioner expressed admiration for GA Akanbi FC's run to the final. "I was amazed by GA Akanbi FC. They play in the Nationwide League One and still found their way to the FA Cup final. They did their best, but in football one team must win. I commend their courage and congratulate them as one of the teams that will represent the state."

He charged both sides to remain good ambassadors of Kwara State. "Keep up the spirit and continue to be good ambassadors of the state," he added.

The colourful final was attended by several dignitaries, including Engineer Femi Sani Araba's representative, Mrs Folashade Omoniyi, Executive Director of KWIRS; Obafemi, a retired FIFA referee; Dr Steve Olarinoye; veteran broadcaster Hameed Adio; and other sports personalities.
