Kwara Customs Boss Begins Strategic Visits to Security Agencies
The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Najeem Ogundeyi, has commenced a series of working visits to sister security agencies and key stakeholders across Kwara State as part of efforts to strengthen border security and operational efficiency.
DC Ogundeyi, who assumed leadership of the Command on December 16, 2025, described the outreach as a central component of his management strategy.
He explained that the visits align with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, particularly in the area of collaboration and inter-agency synergy.
During the engagements, the Acting Area Controller stressed the need for a united front in addressing evolving security challenges within the state. He noted that his predecessor had provided detailed briefings on the high level of cooperation among security agencies in Kwara, which he credited for the Command's recent operational achievements.
Ogundeyi assured stakeholders that his administration would be anchored on mutual respect, professionalism, transparency and strict adherence to the rule of law.
"I am here to cement the established rapport between our services. I seek the same level of cooperation and support accorded to my predecessor. Together, we shall work diligently to secure our national borders and achieve our collective objectives," he said.
He further reminded stakeholders that although the Nigeria Customs Service is primarily responsible for revenue generation and trade facilitation, its role in safeguarding national security and protecting lives and property remains critical.
Heads of the various security formations visited welcomed the Acting Controller and pledged their continued support, particularly in intelligence sharing and joint operations.
Among the agencies engaged are the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, among others.
According to Ogundeyi, engaging with his counterparts upon assuming office was necessary to strengthen existing synergy and foster closer collaboration.
He emphasised that no single agency can successfully address security challenges in isolation, adding that sustained cooperation would enhance the effective discharge of their respective mandates and promote peaceful coexistence across Kwara State.
