Belgore Condemns Attack on Justice Muhammed
Kwara State Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Governorship candidate in the April 2011 election, Mohammed Belgore, SAN, has condemned attack by gunmen on Justice Oluwatoyin Muhammed of the State Sharia Court of Appeal, and urged security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
Justice Muhammed who is still recuperating in hospital, was attacked by unidentified gunmen at his GRA residence, Ilorin last Sunday.
Belgore spoke when he paid a sympathy visit to the Sharia Court judge at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, where he is being treated.
Belgore said: "The attack on the honourable Justice is, to say the least, condemnable and barbaric. We thank Almighty Allah for saving the life of our father in the hands of the assassins, and seek His continuous protection over him and all of us in Kwara State in particular and Nigeria in general.
"We call on the security agencies to move swiftly to probe this murder attempt and bring the culprits to book.
"It is our opinion that an attack on a member of the society is an attack on all of us.
"For this reason, we urge the security agencies to take very serious, the threat posed by these elements who live by killing fellow human beings," Belgore added.
Also, Belgore led other ACN chieftains to Tshonga to condole with the family of Alhaji Aminu, a member of the party’s state caretaker committee who died Thursday in Abuja. The late Aminu, a foundation member of ACN in the state, has since been buried at his Tsonga country home in Edu Local Government of the state.
"The late Alhaji Aminu was a progressive par excellence and we take solace in the fact that he lived his life working alongside other like minds to contribute meaningfully to the good of our society. "All of us will miss his contributions. We will keep the struggle going. We pray the Almighty to give the family the fortitude to bear this loss and to forgive him of his shortcomings," he said.
