Kaiama Emir Sues for Peace, Unity Among Nigerians
The Emir of Kaima in Kwara State, Alhaji Muazu Umar, has charged Nigerians to make peace, unity and love be their watch-word to foster nation growth.
The traditional ruler gave the charge while speaking at the 2013 Bokobaru-Gani festival in Kaima, headquaters of the Kaima Local Government Area of the state.
Bokobaru-Gani festival is an annual event, organised by the Kaima Kingdom to strengthen unity and love among Bokobaru-speaking people of Nigeria and beyond.
Alhaji Umar emphasised the need for Nigerians to see themselves as an indivisible entity and to shun acts that could retard the growth of the country.
He noted that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos, rancour and acrimony.
Umar urged Nigerians to embark on activities that would further promote peace.
"When we love one another regardless of origin, language or background, the problem confronting the nation will be a thing of the past," Umar said.
The traditional ruler advised wealthy indigenes of Kaima to come home and invest for more development.
He appealed to the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Kishi-Kaima road to improve the economy and social activities of people in the area.
In his message, Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isaka Gold, reiterated the commitment of the administration to develop rural areas.
He said the state government would develop tourism at the grass roots as a way of improving the economy of the state.
The governor praised the foresight of the people of Kaima for sustaining the festival, stating that government recognised the benefits of the event.
