Kwara Court Adjourns Murder Case of Student Over Non-Appearance of Key Accused
Seven suspects appeared in the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Monday, charged with the murder of Mojisola Awesu, a student at the State College of Health Technology, Offa. The incident took place last year.
However, the court was unable to hear their pleas as the two primary accused individuals were not represented in court.
Justice Ibrahim Yusuf ordered that the principal defendants, Happiness Adebayo and Timileyin Kolawole, be remanded in a correctional facility. The case has been adjourned until the 24th of this month for the formal arraignment of all the accused persons.
Our reporter recalled that the deceased, Awesu, was reportedly lured to Ilorin by Adebayo and Kolawole and later murdered before her corpse was dumped at a dumpsite in Ilorin.
The Guardian Newspaper reported that Adebayo and Kolawole are the prime suspects accused of conspiring and causing the death of Awesu on the 9th of August, 2024.
Adebayo and his parents, Adebayo Adeniyi and Bukola Adeniyi, were accused of conspiring to cause the disappearance and destruction of evidence, punishable under the Penal Code Law of Kwara State, 2006.
Also, Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus were accused of conspiring and dumping the corpse of Awesu at a dumpsite along Wara Road, Ilorin, an offense punishable under the Kwara State Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law, 2018.
