Grand Mufti's Son Weds Emir's Daughter in Ilorin Royal Ceremony

Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, played host to dignitaries from various spheres this week as two children of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa, tied the knot.

The celebrants are Sheikh Onikijipa's son, Sa'adallah Faruq Onikijipa, and daughter, Sua'ad Faruq Onikijipa.

Sheikh Onikijipa, the Grand Mufti of the Ilorin Emirate and founder of Al-Amaany Arabic School in Lagos, witnessed his son Sa'adallah marry Aishat Sulu-Gambari, a princess of the Ilorin Emirate and daughter of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

On the other hand, Sua'ad tied the nuptial knot with Yahaya Hussaini Mohammed.

Muslim News gathered that the colourful wedding ceremonies which began on Thursday, 9th January were marked by different cultural events and displays, including the aisun, ere osan, ijo olomo oba, among others.

For the walimatu-n-nikaah, Sua'ad's came first at Omoda Ilorin, attended by a galaxy of scholars led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Bashir Solihu.

Representatives of the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq were also present. Other notable dignitaries were former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed; Director General of National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Sulaiman Abubakar; former Secretary to the State Government (Kwara), Alhaji Isiaka Gold.

The one-in-town Ilorin Central Mosque was the venue of the walimatu-n-nikkah between Sa'adallah and Princess Aishat, which was held on Friday, 10th January.

It was graced by the bride's father and Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, along with royal chiefs and title holders of the Emirate.

Also present were former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki; Chief of Staff to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Dan-Amana of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Tunji Nagode, among other dignitaries.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin was also present, along with other prominent Islamic scholars and Imams.

Muslim News gathered that the wedding reception of Sa'adallah and Princess Aishat will hold at the Atlantic Event Centre in Ilorin today, Saturday, 11th January while the reception of Sua'ad and Yahaya is slated for Saturday, 18th January in Lagos State.
