Fire Outbreak Wipes Out Three-Bedroom Building of Daudu of Ojodu in Oja-Iya
A fire incident at Oja-Iya in Ilorin, Kwara State, has razed the residence of the Daudu of Ojodu, a traditional ruler in the state.
The fire reportedly broke out over the weekend due to a power surge following the restoration of electricity in the area. The three-bedroom building was entirely destroyed in the blaze.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, stated that the inferno had caused significant damage to the property.
He said, “Upon arrival, firefighters found a three-bedroom apartment engulfed in flames, with the fire concentrated in the bedrooms.
“Despite the advanced stage of the fire, the crew worked tirelessly to extinguish it and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
“Unfortunately, all the three bedrooms were completely destroyed due to the delayed emergency call.”
Adekunle added that “The director of the service, Prince Falade John, sympathised with the Daudu and other affected residents of the compound.''
