Professor Badmas Honored as Fellow of Islamic Studies, Nigeria (FISN)

Professor Imam Badmas Lanre Yusuf, MNAL a distinguished Professor of Qur'anic Studies in Islamic Studies Unit of Religions’ Department, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, has been awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of Islamic Studies by the National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS). This esteemed honor, presented during the 2024 NATAIS Annual Conference in Yola, Adamawa State on November 16th, marks one of the highest accolades in Islamic academia, recognizing Professor Badmas’ profound impact and lifelong dedication to advancing Islamic scholarship and community leadership.

Professor Badmas Lanre Yusuf was born into the esteemed Maimasa family in the Gambari Quarters of Ilorin, where he began his journey in Arabic and Islamic studies. His foundational education in these fields was enriched through his early training at Darul Ulum, an Ilorin institution affiliated with the renowned Markaz Ta'līm al-Arabi wal Islam in Agege, Lagos. This early education laid the groundwork for his lifelong commitment to Islamic scholarship and community leadership.

Educated at Bayero University Kano, the University of Ilorin, and King Saud University in Riyadh, Professor Badmas’ academic journey has been marked by intellectual rigor and a commitment to excellence. Beyond academia, he is actively engaged in religious and community service as the Imam Ratib of Maimasa Family Mosque and the Chief Imam of Hilal Jum'at Mosque in Ilorin. His contributions to Islamic education are further amplified through his founding of a nursery and primary school, as well as the Darul Qalam Science Academy, where he supports the development of young minds with a strong foundation in both religious and scientific education.

An accomplished administrator, Professor Badmas has held several high-ranking positions, including Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Provost of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, and Federal Commissioner in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). These roles showcase his ability to lead with vision and integrity, qualities that have earned him respect and admiration within the academic and Islamic communities.
