Baraje Commends FG for Sending Troops to Mali
The immediate past Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (P.D.P) Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has described the Federal Government decision to send Nigerian soldiers to Mali on a peace mission as a welcome development
He disclosed this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital while answering questions from Journalists.
According to him, the security challenges' being experienced in the country was largely due to the inability of past governments to take care of the nation's borders with neighbouring countries.
He claimed that ninety five percent of the people who committed nefarious activities in Nigeria are foreigners, particularly from neighboring West African countries who flooded Nigeria as a result of the porous nature of the borders.
Alhaji Baraje further said Nigeria could not fold her hands watching Mali on fire.
Speaking on the political difference within the P.D.P hierarchy, Alhaji Baraje disclosed that it was rather internal issues that would soon be resolved amicably.
On the removal of the party's National Scribe from office, Alhaji Baraje said P.D.P. is a law abiding party and the law is very clear about the roles of political parties when it comes to Elections particularly internal Elections.
The P.D.P. according to him, ought to have brushed aside the judgment but as a law abiding party, would refer to the judiciary to ascertain the appropriate law on the issue of the party's National Secretary's removal from office.
On the centenary celebration, Alhaji Baraje said Nigeria as a Country had come a long way and celebrating the Amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates since 1914, calls for celebrations, adding that a contrary view should be re-examined.
