According to a news report from Punch, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has expressed his sorrow over the death of Adeyinka Oyun, Controller of the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Danladi-Salihu extended his condolences to the family of the late controller and to his deputy speaker, who is a brother to the deceased.

In a statement by Sheu Abdulqadir Yusuf, the Speaker's Special Adviser on Media, he remarked that the state has lost one of its illustrious sons.

PUNCH Online earlier reported that Oyun passed away in the early hours of Saturday at his residence in the Aiyetoro community, Sango-Kulende area of Ilorin, the state capital.

“The late CP Oyun was a dedicated and committed public servant who served the NCS diligently as Squadron Commander, Vice Principal of Academics Borstal Training Institution Gannon in Kwara State, Officer in Charge of Old Ilorin Custodial Centre Oke-kura, Ilorin, and Zone “F” Controller of Operations in Ibadan, Oyo, and Cross River States.

“We have lost another illustrious Kwaran in CP Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, who has served Nigeria in various capacities at the Correctional Service; his death is a great loss to us, and we will sorely miss him.”

The Speaker prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the family. “Our condolences go to the family of Mr Oyun, especially my brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, and all those the deceased left behind.

“The Speaker prays God to grant CP Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.

Family sources indicated that the late Controller of Prisons visited a barbershop on Friday evening and drove home without any sign of illness.

The deceased was expected to retire in August 2025, according to sources at the Correctional Service headquarters in Ilorin.
