Abuja Kidnap: Ilorin Descendants Union Condemns Killing Of Victim, Demands Others' Release
The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has condemned the killing of one of the abducted girls in Abuja by their kidnappers.
The union appealed to relevant authorities to improve efforts in the fight against insecurity in the country to prevent the nation from disintegration.
This was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of IEDPU, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahiim.
The Union stated this over the weekend while reacting to the killing of Habeebah Al-Kadiriyah, who was an undergraduate at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The kidnap of the family members has generated outrage in the country with many calling on the government to act fast.
The kidnappers had taken the five children with their father who was later released and asked to pay N60m to free the children. The eldest was later killed while her corpse was sent to the family.
Already Nigerians have taken to social media to seek donation to enable them pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
The IEDPU which initially called for the release of the family through its National President, Alhaji AbdulMumini Abdulmalik, stated that the murder of the innocent girl, as a way of driving home their demand for payment of ransom on the victims, was absolutely mindless, extremely sacrilegious and very sad .
The National President said the killing was not only unfortunate but also unacceptable, adding that the trend portends huge danger for the continuous coexistence of the country.
Alhaji AbdulMalik pointed out that it was high time that the government walked its talk by tightening security within and around the country and ensuring that the remaining girls as well as other kidnapped victims were returned to their families in peace and not in pieces.
The community leader also reiterated his appeal to well meaning Nigerians and particularly indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to support the family of the victims towards ensuring that the remaining girls regain their freedom without further delay.
Alhaji AbdulMalik added that the thoughts of the Union and its members across the world are with the immediate and extended families of the victims as he prayed to Allah to console them.
