Scavenger Bags 2 Yrs Jail for Burglary

Date: 2012-12-24

An Ilorin Magistrate court has sentenced a scavenger, Kazeem Rasaq into two years imprisonment for burglary.

The convict appeared before Magistrate Adam Bello on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, house breaking and theft contrary to Sections 348, 355 and 267 of the Penal Code Law.

Rasaq trespassed into the premises of Methodist Campus Fellowship, Tanke Area, Ilorin, where he stole a premier musical drum set and a generating set.

The convict was however caught when he was about to escape with the stolen items.

When the convict was arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate Court, he pleaded guilty to the allegations leveled against him.

The prosecutor, Inspector, Kareem Jimoh told the court that the victim belonged to the syndicate of people that broke into people's houses whenever they were not at home.

He therefore prayed the court to try him summarily since he admitted the allegation leveled against him.

Magistrate M.A. Bello granted the oral application of the prosecutor and sentenced the man to two years imprisonment without option of fines.
