NAFOWA President restates commitment to youth, women empowerment
National President Nigerian Airforce Officers’ Wives Association, NAFOWA , Mrs Elizabeth Olubunmi Amao at the weekend in Ilorin retrietrated the commitment of the Association in capacity building of women, widows, children and youths.
The National President made this known at the first batch youth empowerment program graduation ceremony batch at 303 Medium Airlift Group, headquarters Annex, Ilorin Kwara State.
Represented by the Chairperson NAFOWA, Mobility Command Chapter, Mrs, Esther Etukudo said NAFOWA has been contributing to national agenda for human development and value addition of the country.
She stated that, “It is note worthy that NAFOWA skills acquisition programmes are organized in all the NAF units across the country and are known for building well grounded beneficiaries who have creditably become specialist in their chosen field of learning.”
According to her, “Youth empowerment has become the hallmark venture of the Association and are impacting knowledge and skills within and outside our bases to encourage self reliance among the weak and less privileged in our wider society. Therefore the event would get another great milestone in the series of achievements recorded by NAFOWA nation wide with our motto: Service to humanity’.
Mrs Amao commended the efforts of NAFOWA chairperson, Mobility Command Chapter, Mrs Esther Etukudo for the achievement.
She assured that NAFOWA National will continue ” to do everything within its power to support noble efforts such as the one we are witnessing . I want tothank you for the beautiful work you are doingin all the Units under your Command.”
She urged the Command not to rest on their oars but to continue to add value to humanity.
The national president appreciated the AOC Mobility Command, AVM IH Etukudo for his support to NAFOWA activities under his Command. We remain grateful and shall continue to expect his continous support of our activities.
She also commended the chief host of the programme, Commander 303 Medium Airlift Group, Air Commodore GI Jibia and his team of officers and civilian staff for their timeless effort in making the entire programme in Ilorin a great success.
The national president thanked the NAFOWA cordinator Ilorin chapter all NAFOWA and AWA members forhosting and to the NAF community at large for the reception.
She said:”My speech will not complete without thanking the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshall Oladayo Isiayaka Amao for his unalloyed support to all NAFOWA skilss acquisition and Vocational Training programmes till date, his support and encouragement has been constant . We are able to do all because of his encouragement and fatherly advice”.
Earlier in his remarks, Air Commodore EO Iduh charged the beneficiaries not to despise their little beginning saying that Apple started a little and see what Apple is today. He urged them not to be ashamed of their skills and advice they exhibit their wares any where they go in the society. And challenged them to go into the society to contribute their quota to the social and economic development of the country.
About 157 youths and women graduated at the ceremony from skills like Barbing, make up, cake and catering, hairdressing and gele tying amongst others.
