Date: 2022-05-22

The Kwara State Old Motors Spare Parts Dealers Association, Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin has closed the market indefinitely following the death of one of their members in a fracas at Okoolowo-Oloje axis of Ilorin on Friday.

Reports reaching DAILY POST indicated that the Secretary and the Treasurer of the association, Gidado Ahmed and Gani Elemosho, respectively, gave the order.

The decision, according to the association, was to allow peace to be restored in the market.

The association urged all its members to stay at home till further notice.

They prayed to God to give the family of the victim, late Abdullahi Salman, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and appealed to all the youths in the Oloje area to give room for peace in the area.

Recall that the State police command, through its spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed that one person died in the fracas which occurred on Friday at the Okoolowo-Oloje axis in the Ilorin metropolis.

The victim was allegedly killed, while scores were also reported to have sustained serious injuries during the fracas.

The command frowned at the lawlessness which led to the incident, just as the State Police Commissioner, Tuesday Assayomo, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.

Policemen have also been deployed to the area to restore peace and order.
