GENERAL PUBLIC NOTICE!

Date: 2021-09-02

KWARA STATE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Earlier before now, the Ministry had through General Public Notice called upon Child Minding Services' institutions (Crèche, Daycare, Playgroup, Kindergarten, Pre-Nursery, Nursery etc.) operating illegally to comply with provisions of the law. It should be noted that, Part xiv (Section 163-170) of "Kwara State Child Rights Law 2006" is explicitly clear in this regard.

The government has no doubt exhausted its magnanimity and is set to begin stern enforcement according to the provisions of the law. Any institutions found wanting shall be sealed off, blacklisted and possibly face prosecutions.

The general public is therefore, further advised, especially parents whose children are under the age of six (6) and are enrolled with these illegal institutions, to be wary of dangerous consequences inherent in the continued enrollments of their children in the care of these malevolent operators.

The early care and development of children under the age of six (6) is too sensitive and susceptible to vulnerability and cannot be allowed in the hands of illegal operators and their uncertified/unprofessional caregivers.

For further information on compliance, visit the Child Development Directorate (Room D18) of the Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Phase 1, State Secretariat Complex, along Offa Road (around State High Court) GRA, Ilorin or call Mr. Zubair on 09086143720.

Signed:

Hajia (Mrs) Yusuf M.J

Director Child Development

For: Permanent Secretary,

Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development
