Ekiti Kwara LG Boss Reinburses Vigilante Group
The importance of a safe and secure environment has again been emphasised, while it was described as the responsibility of all.
This was the view of the chairman, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mr Abraham Ogunleye at the distribution of operational vehicles and uniform to the vigilante group in the local government.
Mr Ogunleye noted that security of lives and property was of paramount importance, saying that it was the responsibility of all.
He opined further that both the government and the governed must join hands in ensuring a safe and secured environment.
Commending the leadership style of the state governor, Alhaji Abdul-Fatah Ahmed, especially in making the state crime-free, Ogunleye said it was with a view to complementing the state government's efforts for his administration to refurbish a 10-seater bus and bought six new vans and motorcycles for the vigilante group and some other security agencies serving in the local government, as operational vehicles.
"Encouraged by the success recorded by the vigilante group of this local government area in collaboration with other security agencies, which led to the crushing of a rampaging robbery on Eruku-Iyemero (Ekiti State) road late last year, our administration decided to reinforce the vigilante group to further enhance its efficiency. The unit has also been supplied with new sets of uniform to give it a dignified appearance," Ogunleye said.
The ceremony which took place at the local government secretariat, Araromi-Opin was attended by Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe, vigilante group, Kwara State Commandant, Alhaji Jimoh Abdul-Raheem, state chairman, Alhaji Saka Ibrahim, Alhaji Baba Magaji, Mallam Gbarijoke, Mr Bayo Yusuf, among other dignitaries.
