Kwara Express shutdown for alleged fraud

AUTHORITIES of Harmony Transport Services Limited otherwise known as Kwara Express have temporarily shut down the Kwara State government owned transport company for alleged fraud and gross staff indiscipline.

Owners of the company, Kwara Harmony Holdings Limited added that plans are afoot to review the operations of the company in order to remodel it for profitability and sustainability.

Accordingly, owners of transport company have set up a probe panel set up to review and investigate company's operations and activities so as to determine its future.

Group Managing Director of Harmony Holdings Limited Abdullahi AbdulMajeed attributed the temporary closure of the company to age-long systematic fraud allegedly perpetrated by the company's staff as well as their resistance to positive change.

Mr. AbdulMajeed said the rot in the company when it was a public corporation hindered it from being run profitably, adding that that necessitated it acquisition by Harmony Holdings which is the investment management company of the Kwara state government.

He observed that despite its acquisition Kwara Express is still being dogged by absence of corporate governance, accountability, ineffective cost structure, noting that all these vices are now being investigated.
