Kwara urged to make inquiries on Olupako

Date: 2020-10-09

The Ajikanje lineage of Dada ruling house in Share, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has urged the government to make inquiries from people of the community so that it will be well guided in picking a new monarch, Olupako, for the town.

A statement by spokesman for the family, Prince Idris Aderounmu, a Lagos resident, quoted Dada ruling house of Ajikanje lineage in Share as imploring the state government to ensure that the kingmakers follow due process in selecting a new Oba for Share.

He said: "Upon the death of Oba Abubakar Garuba Dosunmu, the Ajikanje family in Share unanimously chose a candidate, Prince Kazeem Aderounmu, a Lagos-based journalist, whose link to our great grandfather, Ajikanje, is obvious and his candidature is supported by other members of the family.

"Upon his presentation, the community, including those living outside Kwara State, are well pleased with our choice. The Dada are of two families, it:s either you are of Ajikanje that is based at Ile Oluloke Share or the Oyadeyi, another child of Dada that are at Babanloma. These two, Oyadeyi and Ajikanje, are children of Olupako Dada who reigned from 1835 to 1874.'

The Ajikanje lineage enjoined stakeholders in Share to ensure the kingmakers follow due process in selecting a new Olupako for Share.
