The Kwara State Anti-Loitering Committee on Students, Staff lateness and other related offences, on Wednesday, summoned 11 teachers for being absent from their schools during school hours and without permission from appropriate authorities.

The committee members, who were on a monitoring of schools in Ilorin, directed the principals of the schools where the teachers were absent to issue them queries.

The Director of Personnel Management in the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, said the exercise was to ensure punctuality and instill discipline among the teachers.

He said the exercise has been in existence for long, adding that it was yielding positive result.

 He ordered the absentee teachers to report at the ministry for further explanation over their absence from work.

He stated that the exercise would be a continuous one and reiterated the government's commitment to instilling discipline in both teachers and students.

The schools visited were St. Anthony's Secondary School, Cherubim and Seraphim College, St. Barnabas Junior Secondary, St. John Secondary School, Baboko Community Secondary School and United Community Secondary School, all in Ilorin.
