Kwara Spends N3.2b on Road Projects
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr Amuda Kannike disclosed this today at the monthly joint ministerial briefing in Ilorin.
According to him, various road projects inherited from the last administration in all parts of the State have been completed, with some were commissioned during the first anniversary of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Dr Kannike said the key policy trust of the ministry was to complete all on-going road projects as well as provision of other infrastructural facilities across the State.
The Commissioner, who mentioned some of the roads that were completed, said it was part of the commitment of the present administration to improve on the lives of the people especially at the grassroot level.
On rural roads, Dr Kannike said over N600million Naira has been spent on rural road projects, with majority of them completed, while others are at various stages of completion.
The commissioner also added that apart from road projects, his ministry acquired six firefighting equipment to be distributed to five centres across the three senatorial district, while other road equipment were purchased for the State Road Maintenance Agency.
Also briefing newsmen, the Commissioner Energy, Alhaji Tajudeen Zulu-Oloje said ninety percent of the ministry's budgetary allocation for the installation of transformers to communities and villages has been utilised.
Alhaji Zulu-Oloje said the state government, through the ministry of energy, distributed and installed transformers in villages and towns in the sixteen local government areas of the state to ensure stable power supply.
On the need for street lights along Tanke-University road, he said the government has taken steps to ensure its workability, saying that installation of street lights across the state is being done in stages.
