'I've always shared ideological pact with Buhari'

Date: 2018-09-05

One of the gubernatorial aspirants in Kwara State, Mal Saliu Mustapha, at the weekend, said he always shares ideological pact with President Muhammadu Buhari, so it is an insult for anybody to tag him as a mole for Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Mustapha said this during an interview with journalists at the Ilorin International Airport when he was speaking over the rumour making the rounds that he was a mole planted by the Senate president.

According to him, "That is the highest insult anybody can ascribe to me or to my person. I have always been known to stand and pursue what I believe in. Before now, I was the deputy national chairman of CPC; before then I was in ANPP. I have always shared the ideological pact with the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari, because we have always believed in standing by the masses.

"May be for some reasons, some of us have been quiet or we just adopted that 'sit down look' which we are now coming out of, that's why people can make such insinuations.

"But far from that, I have always remained in APC. They all met us in APC, the few of us. So, it would be wrong for anybody to be insinuating that may be some of us are working for a particular individual," he said.

While speaking on the political situation in Kwara State and the chances of APC at the polls, he said, "If we all put hands on deck and we cooperate to build a political party, there is nothing that can stop the APC from making it.

"Like I said, we want to partner with all well-meaning Kwarans, because this project is a project for all... For me, I think first and foremost, we must try to re-position and fix the state, and we must start from our educational angle for people to be well informed, enlightened to know the negative and positive things that should push the state forward," he said.
