ACF Backs Ambali's Appointment as UNILORIN VC

Date: 2012-08-06

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), at the weekend, pledged its support for the Vice-Chancellor designate of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Kwara State, Prof. AbdulGaniy Ambali.

The group made the pledge when a delegation of its Kwara State branch led by Dr. Muhammed Ghali Alaaya, visited Ambali to felicitate with him over his appointment as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Institution.

Ambali, whose appointment was made public two weeks ago by UNILORIN’s council will assume duties mid-October, after the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

Speaking at the occasion, Alaaya charged the new VC to use his vast experience to uplift the standard of the university, which was reputed for its unbroken academic calendar.

The Head, Public Relations Unit of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA), Abuja, Mallam Sa’ad Salahu, was also part of the delegation, advised Ambali not to derail from the footprints of his predecessor, whom, he noted, had within the past five years taken the university to greater heights.

Responding, Ambali thanked the delegation for the visit, assuring them that he would improve on the legacies bequeathed to the institution by his predecessor.

He promised to use his vast experience in the university’s administration to impact positively on the lives of both the students and staff of the institution.

He said: "I will do everything humanly possible to ensure that UNILORIN continues to maintain its lead in quality academic programmes and unbroken academic calendar."
