Gov Ahmed Charges Judicial Officers on Integrity

Date: 2017-01-17

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has charged judicial officers in the state to maintain discipline and uphold high level of integrity in the discharge of their duties.

The Governor who gave this charge in Ilorin at the swearing-in of Acting Grand Khadi of the State Shariah Court of Appeal, Hon. Kadi Mohammed Ola Abdulkadir, said current developments in the country's judicial system call for great concern.

According to Governor Ahmed, "

the judiciary must be protected and enabled to perform its constitutional roles in the interest of our nascent democracy and public order. Officers of the law and indeed all citizens, whether located within or outside government, must join hands to protect, uplift and sustain our judiciary."

The Governor called on the new Acting Grand Khadi to be an agent of positive change and dedicate himself to uplifting the image of the judiciary.

"All judicial officers and politicians must uphold the sanctity, integrity and sobriety associated with the judicial arm of government," the governor said, while promising his administration's commitment to upholding the welfare of judicial officers in the State and creating a more conducive environment for the quick dispensation of justice.

Responding, the Acting Grand Khadi, Hon. Kadi thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve and promise to work with all his colleagues to ensure a stable judiciary in the State.

Earlier, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade said the new Acting Grand Khadi has garnered the requisite knowledge of the workings and administration of the court as a khadi of the court "which undoubtedly prepared him for the present assignment. I have no doubt that he is going to keep the flag flying in the administration of justice by the court."
