A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State led by Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo yesterday accused the Sunday Fagbemi group of acting the script of some unknown forces to destabilize the party.

A statement issued in Ilorin by the party's state factional publicity secretary loyal to Oyedepo, Otunba Rex Olawoye, claimed that his faction had uncovered how Fagbemi's group was hired to frustrate the opposition.

The mainstream PDP faction stated that it was taken aback by the rival group's claim that it had occupied the state party secretariat.

Penultimate Monday, Fagbemi and his supporters stormed a storey building complex housing the party secretariat on Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin and pronounced that his group had taken over the structure as the rightful occupants.

But the Oyedepo-led faction, in the statement, said it was shocking that the rival group, which claimed to be the authentic state leadership of the party, was in Ilorin causing chaos, while Oyedepo was in Abuja attending the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party.

The statement appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm and the general public to disregard what it called "unwholesome activities" of "disgruntled elements".
