Navy to site training school in Kwara

The Director, Operations, Nigerian Navy Headquarters, Abuja, Rear Admiral Maikson Kadri stated this when he led a delegation to the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in Ilorin.

He further explained that the formation after series of meetings and cross examination had settled for International Aviation College, Ilorin as suitable place for its age long proposed project.

Rear Admiral Kadiri said the visit was to concretise the plan with the state government, noting that the naval air arm was established twenty years ago with a number of pilots trained abroad.

According to him, Air arm is necessary for Nigerian Navy because in maritime operation, air arm is a force multiplier to cover aerial of the sea during rescue operation and other emergencies.

He therefore, sought the government's support to acquire land for the project and appealed to the governor to facilitate the speedy commencement of the project.

In his response, the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed said the government was positively disposed to ensuring that the relationship between the Navy and the state owned International Aviation College blossom for the benefits of both parties.

Governor Ahmed noted with joy that the presence of the formation apart from strengthen the state security would also boost the economy.

He expressed the hope that when the air wing of the Navy eventually takes off in the state, the Navy would complement the efforts of the Army, Air force and other security agencies in enhancing security in the state.

On the request by the Navy for the reduction of the premium on the land it wants for its barracks, the governor said the state government would be ready for renegotiation for mutual benefit.
