Gov Ahmed urges Kwarans to embrace agriculture as alternative

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has identified agriculture as a huge alternative to the crude oil now at its lowest ebb. The governor emphasised that it had become necessary to diversify the country's economy at the moment given the current economic reality, asserting that agriculture was the best option.

Governor Ahmed who gave the indication while receiving first class traditional rulers from Kwara South senatorial district led by Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi during a "Thank-you"visit at the Government House, Ilorin, spoke of the government's intention to develop agric hub for poultry in the state.

Agriculture according to the governor was more reliable than go cap in hand to Abuja for monthly allocation that had become unreliable.

He also called for serious synergy between government and traditional rulers to ensure huge success of government policies and programmes.

He appealed to the monarchs as custodians of cultures and traditions to champion the advocacy campaign in educating their subjects about government's policies.

He tasked the public to embrace agriculture as best option, stressing that government would be supportive in the aspect of land acquisition, and land clearing among others.

The governor further emphasised that there should be partnership between government and the royal fathers in promoting functional, standard and quality education.

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi had in his remarks expressed gratitude to the government for upgrading four traditional rulers from Kwara South to first class status.
