Ilorin may host AYC qualifier

Date: 2012-07-08

THREE venues Ilorin, Owerri and Port Harcourt are on line to host Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles second leg African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier against Tanzania.

The Nigerian team are due to play host to the Tanzanian in August two weeks after they might have travelled to the Tanzanian capital for the first leg. Tribunesports gathered during the week that chief coach of the team John Obuh came up with the choice of the three venues from which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will settle for one.

''Coach John Obuh has picked three venues, namely, the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Kwara Stadium, Ilorin and the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt for the return leg of the AYC qualifier against Tanzania,'' a top NFF source told Tribunesports.'

Coach Obuh must have considered some factors which he believes would help the team before preferring the match to be played there.

The coach currently enjoys large followership in the Garden City, the base of his premier league side Sharks FC and had once stayed in Ilorin where he handled Kwara United FC.
