Monarch advocates better participatory roles for traditional rulers

A Monarch, Oba James Oladipo Aroko-Ola Buremoh Ajagungbade the first has advocated better participatory roles for traditional institutions in the task of building a virile nation.

Oba Buremoh Ajagungbade who is the Onidera of Idera in Kwara State, made the call on Tuesday while fielding questions from journalists on the sideline of the 10th years anniversary on throne and 25th wedding anniversary.

The traditional ruler noted that it is pertinent to involve and incorporate traditional institutions in governance, pointing out that it would enable development to cut across all nooks and crannies of the country.

According to him, as the custodians of cultural laws, customs and norms of their domains, involvement of traditional rulers in governance would not only pave way for massive development of the country,but also enables government to carry rural dwellers along in the execution of programmes.

On Sports, Oba Buremoh Ajagungbade who was formerly a Wrestler and popularly known as "Ladi, the African Tiger" attributed the crisis rocking Nigeria's glasshouse to involvement of politics in running the affairs of sports sector.

The traditional ruler added that politics should be taken away totally from the sports sector as part of measures to reposition the sector.

Oba Buremoh Ajagungbade also stressed the need for the development of sports at the grassroots, calling on government to embark on talents hunt to tap the potentials in the country.

On his 10th years achievements in throne, the Onidera of idera disclosed that the economy of the community had been diversified and people of the community were encouraged to grow cash crops, adding that investors are also attracted to invest in the land.

He appealed to the State government to provide the community with motorable roads to fastrack the development of the area.

Speaking on the 25th years of their marriage, the traditional ruler and his wife, Olori Roseline Abosede Buremoh attributed the success story to good communication and the intervention of God who showered His blessings to the union.

They encouraged young couples to show love to one another and be committed to the oneness of their marriage.
