Baba Saraki is alive, hale and hearty

Date: 2012-06-26

Contrary to rumours making the rounds about his death, the Waziri of Ilorin Emirate and former Senate Leader, Dr. Olusola Saraki is alive, hale and hearty, his close aide has said.

According to a statement on Thursday by his Personal Assistant, Barrister Lateef Okandeji, Saraki is said to be on a visit to the United States of America where he spoke with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State on the forthcoming state House of Assembly election rerun in Oloje and Alanamu wards of Ilorin North-West Constituency.

According to Okandeji, the politician-philanthropist, speaking with party stalwarts, called on the electorate in the two wards to turn out enmass to vote for the candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Abdulfatai Salman Babakini, during the Saturday election rerun.

The statement by Okandeji added: "In a telephone interaction with leaders of the party in the affected wards, he noted that the Peoples Democratic Party remains the only party in the state that has shown consistency in service delivery and entrenchment of quality leadership.

"The Waziri of Ilorin also spoke with eminent personalities of the Ilorin Emirate on Tuesday during which he expressed confidence in the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, as he continues to render good governance to the people of the state.

"Governor Ahmed has been doing a marvelous job. I'm particularly happy with his efforts on youth empowerment through job and wealth creation and the continuous successes recorded on Agriculture and rural transformation."

Saraki, therefore, urged the people of the state to continue to partner with Ahmed for the actualisation of the values of his administration's shared prosperity programme.
