Buhari Inaugurates Governing Council Of Nine Federal Universities

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, 1 March, 2016 officially inaugurated the newly appointed chairmen of Governing councils of nine federal universities in the country.

The nine Federal Universities boards inaugurated by President Buhari includes the Federal Government Universities located in Bayelsa, Kogi, Katsina, Kebba, Yobe and Oye-Ekiti.

Represented by the Minister of Education, Engr. Adamu Adamu, the President urged the new appointees to help the Federal Government achieve its goal of improving the standards of education in the country.

Buhari said as young higher institutions, the universities will take a centre stage in the agenda of the APC-led Federal Government in the years ahead. Buhari congratulated the new appointees, saying they were carefully selected because of the pedigree and competence.

on behalf of chairmen, a former Senator and first daughter of the late strongman of Kwara politics, Gbemi Saraki, said she and her colleagues considered the appointment as a privilege and a call to service.

She assured the President that during their time in office, the young universities will experience a facelift. She said the boards will give vent to the laudable programmes and manifestos of the APC in the education sub-sector.

Present at the event is the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Unwuliri, Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okogie, Registrar Jamb, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFUND, Sen. Binta Mazi-Garba and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education.
